Prime Day has arrived! This year’s big Amazon sale is happening October 13-14. Normally it would likely have been around July, I believe, but then… 2020 and all that!

Here are my top picks in STEM Toys that I’ve seen at a discount so far (I’ll keep this post updated). NOTE: Since prices change rapidly, we can’t post an accurate indication on our site – you need to click through to Amazon to see the current price.

Magna-Tiles on Sale

Let’s start with the young-uns! I’m a huge fan of magnetic tile toys, and Magna-Tiles are the market leader. They normally sell for a premium over similar brands, and as we pointed out in our Magna-Tiles vs Picasso Tiles article, in our opinion, the main advantage of Magna-Tiles is the use of robust pop rivets to hold them together.

Magna-Tiles can seem like a big investment, but I can testify that our kids had years of fun and an endless outlet for their creativity with theirs. Don’t hesitate to buy the biggest set (or 2!) that you can afford!

Osmo Little Genius Starter Kit – Prime Deal

It’s fair to say that we were spellbound by the Osmo Genius Starter Kit when we reviewed it. The tech works so well, it just feels like magic! We were also able to get hands-on with the Osmo Little Genius Starter Kit, which is pitched at somewhat younger kids, from 3 – 5 years. We were equally impressed, and it’s great news that the same starter kit can be expanded with new games/activities as your kids mature.

This deal packs a lot of STEM fun and learning, by including the Osmo base for iPad and the magic reflector that allows your device to ‘see’ the world. The kit includes 6 pre-K games, each of which has tons of replayability.

The original Osmo Starter Kit, designed for kids 6 – 10, is also discounted as an Amazon exclusive set that includes Family Game Night – sounds like fun!

Sphero Specdrums at a Bargain Price!

Speaking of magic – have you ever wanted to turn colors into music at the tap of your finger? Well, that’s exactly what you can do with Sphero Specdrums. We were quite impressed with Specdrums in our hands-on review earlier this year. Our only disappointment was having a single ring set for our review.

Now, in this Prime Day sale you can get the two ring set for an absolute steal!

Sphero Mini Rolling Out the Door

I still can’t quite believe how much tech we can fit in tiny objects. In our review of Sphero BOLT, we were impressed with how many features it had, but too be honest, it’s also a bit daunting to start with a device that has a bajillion things you can do with it!

Sphero Mini focuses on the main feature of Sphero balls – it’s a rolling ball that you can drive or program to move where you want.

A Kid-Proof Tablet – Kindle HD 8 Kids Edition

In our round-up of the best tablets for preschoolers, the Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8 Kids Edition was one of the top choices. One of the biggest pros is the great case that it comes in, making it highly kid-proof.

Fire HD 8 Kids Edition is almost half price, so definitely worth checking out if you’re in the market for a robust tablet for kids.

Closing Remarks

I hope you find a bargain or two in the Prime Day event this year – let me know if you spot any great STEM toy deals that I should include!
